The 2010 AGM to review 2009 was held on Monday the 8th March at 7:30pm at the Llantwit Major Rugby Club.
While all members were encouraged to attend if at all possible the turn out was again disappointingly low. The minutes are posted here.
1. Apologies from Mark Lunn and Mathew Symmonds
2. The minutes of the last AGM were read and accepted
3. The Chairman gave an overview of the club from the last AGM until now. Thanks were given to all that helped the WFAA hold the EFAC in 2009. It was noted that medals were taken by LM Archers in every tournamant they attended The Future AGMs will be in November to allow for any changes in the club to be made prior to members renewing their membership. The change to monthly charges has proven very sucesful for the club and the members have benfitted from this, we are able to provide all Classification shoots at Fonmon to members for free - no other club does this, we hope it will encourage more of our members to shoot in competitions. We were able to procure a number of bosses from the EFAC that has allowed us to open up Fonmon back to being a 28 target course. This has allowed us to sucessfully bid to hold the UK and I of I championships this year.
The committee created and published a Constitution, a Rule Book and a Code of Conduct statement and these are now part of the membership pack.
Future Competitions - the Uk and I of I - we need volunteers to help us host this prestigious shoot - we need marshalls during the competition and general helpers over the weeks up to the competition to make sure the course is fit for the event. Please do attend the work parties.
The club benefitted from grants to buy junior and adult beginners equipment, we alos procured a digital laser tape measure to ensure that Fonmon was accurately marked out. This year we are looking to get a new ride on mower for the court and a video camera as a training aid for all archers
4. The General Secretary gave his apologies for his absense - due to his travel from work he was not able to attend. The Secretary's report was presented and within the report it was noted that we had 17 returns on the questionnaire and that the majority of returns were favourable toward the committee and the club reflecting the work done with most giving Good to Very Good responses. Those that made adverse comments where they provided names have been adressed directly and others where no names were presented have been taken into account in the running of the club where they were felt to offer benefits to the overall membership.
The club now has a club shirt and patches are available, the web site hosts a form to enable archers to order shirts and patches, so far about a third of the club have taken up wearing the shirt while attending shoots.
5. The Treasurer gave a report on the clubs financial health. Overall the club is in a healthy state and is able to cover all its costs and have room to deliver improvements to the members ongoing. We have had some large expenditure this year but the membership fees and the fundraising efforts of the members have covered this off giving us confidence in the clubs financial future. The revenue from the tournaments held at Fonmon boosted our finances and the funds from the Handicap shoots allowed us to have a end of year prize for both the Handicap and the 'scratch' score winners with new shields being presented.
