The round is to be shot any Friday meeting at the Leisure Centre during the Month with the Monthly winners award being presented on the last Friday of that month.
The round consists of 10 ends of 4 arrows shot at a 35cm target from the normal shooting line.
The scoring system is X (scored as a 5), 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and miss.
The archer has to declare their intention to shoot the round and pay the shoot fee before any practice ends.
The archer is allowed a maximum of 2 practice ends before the scoring begins.
Any round not completed on the declared day will be recorded as DNF unless failure to finish is due to a unrecoverable equipment failure.
All uncompleted monthly rounds have to be shot before an archer can compete for the monthly award.
The winner of the monthly handicap will have their handicap adjusted down by 1 point until a handicap of 1 is achieved.
An archers handicap can only be adjusted by a maximum of 4 point unless:
- A archers shoots 2 out of 3 scores that would of changed their handicap by more that 4 points, then their handicap will be recalculated using the two higher scores.
- The winner of the monthly handicap shoot score would give an adjustment of 4 points plus the 1 point for winning the shoot.
- The archer changes style, then the archer has to shoot two scores (there is no shoot fee for these rounds) to create a new handicap in the new style. The archer who has changed style cannot shoot any monthly handicap score until the two rating scores have been submitted
A handicap can only go down during the year.
A new handicap will be calculated at the start of each year when a handicap rating may go up or down.
