The Inaugural shoot was held on 31st August at Woodland Park, It was a WFAA Field round and not only was it the first WFAA shoot there but it was the first WFAA Handicap shoot.
The course was great and as usual the company was good with a warm welcome from the hosts Gill and John. Everyone enjoyed themselves and were impressed with the course, while it is not a steep course it is deceptive and a few targets managed to catch a couple of archers out.
The Handicap setup created by Colin Ketley received a great deal of interest and ensured everyone was focused on shooting their best, by using a Handicap system the competition was open to everyone to win, there were no class or styles in the awards, simply 1st, 2nd and 3rd
The system allows cubs to shoot against adults and barebow to shoot against FU on an equal footing, the results of the day go to show it works !
The final result was
3rd - Andrew Lloyd ( AMBHU)
2nd - Tom Kerby (JMBHR)
1st - Yoke Lunn ( AFBBR )
Another first for the day, Andrew Lloyd shot a Robin Hood ! Not only the first shoot at Woodland Park, the first Handicap shoot but a first Robin Hood all in one day. |
