20th February Fonmon Work Party

The advertised work party went ahead on a grey and overcast day - but it did not rain ! Turnout was poor with only the usual stalwart few there - Fonmon is the club's course and all members are able to shoot it at any time. This is only possible if we maintain it - we need your help to keep the course in a good safe shootable condition. Please invest a few hrs even just occasionally to help.

The attendance at work parties is purely voluntary BUT - if you can help to keep the course fit to shoot for everyone's benefit you also get to know the course a lot better and that can make the difference on a shoot. If you know the slopes and the targets better you shoot them more confidently and that translates into more points. We also have interesting conversations as we go around - a lot of inside knowledge is passed on between people - how many yards do you take off on Target 1? - dont know ? we do !

The committee wish to thank the following members who made the effort, did great work and had a home made chocolate brownie or two ! Special thanks to Yoke for the brownies, we all enjoyed the chocolate and sugar rush !

Michael Mattingley, Dave Gray, Chris Gray, Colin Ketley, Yoke Lunn, and Mark Lunn

We were able to reband the butts from target 2 to 7 and cut steps, shoot platforms and paths on all North end targets.

6th March Fonmon Work Party

The 6th March work party went ahead on a dry and slightly warmer day - the north course is now fit to shoot for the tournament on the 13th. All the soft butts have been rebuilt and rebanded, steps and paths cut - new bridge across the stream at the 80yd butt so everyone should have a good experience shooting on the day and after. Remember, Fonmon is open for you to go and practice on any of the targets at anytime.

As usual all the regulars that could make it were there, the LMA committee are very grateful to those few but would also be grateful if a few others could lend a hand occasionally.. Fonmon is a demanding course to shoot and to maintain and is currently being maintained by a very few people who give up a lot of their time every time for the benefit of the entire club. Those that came enjoyed home made choc chip cookies and biscotti.. We cannot hold tournaments at Fonmon if the course is not fit to shoot so please help us to maintain your course.

We have a schedule of workparties and we will be holding some sheduled 'Introduction to Fonmon' days as well so that new members can come along and see what Field archery is all about compared to the indoor shooting, it is very different!
